Infant Heel Incision Device & Infant
Blood Sampling Nicky® & Little Nicky®
Discovery Diagnostics is the Canadian
distributor for the Infant Heel Incision Device & Infant Blood
Sampling - Nicky® & Little Nicky®
Unlike
traditional lancets, Nicky® and Little Nicky® slice the skin
horizontally, rather than puncturing vertically. Puncturing techniques
can cause injury to cartilage or bone.
Nicky provides a standardized incision 2.5 mm long by 1 mm deep for
routine blood sampling. Little Nicky® makes an even shallower
incision, 0.85 mm deep by 1.75 mm long. Both provide excellent blood
flow, with minimal pain and bruising and less risk of injury to the
infant.
Improved
Infant Blood Sampling
The revolutionary Tip Tripper can be used with both Nicky® and
Little Nicky ® to eliminate tech-to-tech variability in the amount
of pressure being applied to the heel. Tip Tripper reduces re-sticks
of infant heels due to inadequate sample as wells as sticks that bleed
too much.
How It Works
A Nicky®
or Little Nicky®
is slipped into place in the Tip Tripper and pressed to the baby's
prepared heel. The Tip Tripper actuates once the prescribed amount
of pressure has been applied. Tip Trippers comes in two standard applied
pressure levels, a 1.9 lb for infant heel sampling and 3.2 lb for
bleeding times or infant heel sampling.
