Discovery Diagnostics, Canadian distributor
for Wescor's Mycoscreen Plus used for urogenital mycoplasma diagnosis.
A convenient test for the transport, culture, and differential diagnosis
of urogenital mycoplasma samples.
Mycoscreen Plus has been designed for
the detection and differentiation of Ureaplasma urealiticum (U.u.)
and Mycoplasma hominis (M.h.) from clinical specimens. The tests ability
to enumerate the number of organisms present allows for the differentiation
of commensal organisms from pathogens cultured from cervico-vaginal
and urethral specimens.
Mycoscreen Plus is a 24-hour method
based upon the ability of U.u. and M.h. to metabolize urea or arginine
and the organisms antimicrobial resistance profile. Mycoplasma growth
in the test well is indicated by a color change from yellow to pink.
Each microplate is composed
of 4 rows of 2 wells each: a Ureaplasma urealiticum well containing
lincomycin and a Mycoplasma hominis well containing erythromycin.
Also, each microplate is divisible, allowing 4 samples to be run
in each microplate or broken apart and used separately.
