The
Nanoduct System provides iontophoresis for 2 ½ minutes followed
by continuous flow conductivity analysis on only 3 microliters of
sweat. The Nanoduct System also provides the initial sweating rate.
While Nanoduct is designed for neonates, it works equally well on
patients of any age.
Wescor presents a significant breakthrough
in sweat testing that for the first time makes possible reliable
CF diagnosis in the first days of life. Early diagnosis allows timely
intervention and more effective therapy to improve quality of life
for CF patients.
Unique continuous-flow analysis eliminates
a separate collection phase and analyzes pristine samples within
minutes. The possibility of human error is minimized. In addition,
the system provides automatic display of initial sweating rate and
automatic averaging of conductivity. With shorter stimulation time
and minuscule sample requirement (only 3 microliters of sweat),
you can have reliable results in only a few minutes.
Nanoduct's miniaturized components fit easily on neonates. It is
a complete integrated diagnostic system that simplifies the procedure
not only for neonates but for patients of any age.
Nanoduct incorporates the classic method of inducing sweat by pilocarpine
iontophoresis. The pilocarpine is carried into the dermis of the
patient from improved Pilogel® Iontophoretic discs via a controlled
DC electrical current supplied by the Nanoduct Inducer/Analyzer.
This is followed by continuous flow analysis of sweat electrolyte
concentration using the unique conductivity sensor.
Simple to use on Neonates
Infant size electrodes slip easily into the holders, thus greatly
simplifying electrode and sensor attachment, as attested by clinical
trials
